One of my pals heard me singing in English recently and commented.." aiyoh! U sound so funni ler.."

hmm.

Thanx pal! I know I dun accentuate my English but I dun think I sounded 'funni'. I dun deliberately speak like an 'ang moh' so that my English will sound 'normal'. Speaking proper English doesn't mean I have to sound like an English. In the course of my work, I have met more than my fair share of foreigners to know that I am easily comprehended when speaking English. I am proud to say I have much joy learning and speaking good English, and it's still my strongest language when it comes to expressing myself. If you think I sounded funny, how about this?...

customer : oei, u got un cheng muay loti?

KTV staff : erm..sorry sir, we dun sell bread here....

customer : nolah..i want to find uncheng muay loti cos I like lah!

KTV staff : ...but but..we really don't have bread here!

customer : cannot bee lah, this one veli fay-mus ler!

KTV staff : *stumped*

customer : okay okay..i asked my fran again cos he say here got mah..u wait ah, wait ah...

*customer comes back with a slip of paper

customer : he write inside the name for u...so u have or no have?

KTV staff : (after taking a look) ooorrhh...this one we have!
